Emerging Technologies
I think the pull - out computer pen would be something I could use in the class room one day. This would be helpful for showing students certain math applets that they might find useful while doing homework. It would probably be best for students who are struggling and need a little more in class practice to understand the material. It would be easy to take the pen to the student while they are sitting at their desk and to quickly show them something that they would find useful.

Audio and Visual Technologies
I could use overhead projectors in the classroom very easily. I could put math problems on a transparency then project it onto a pull down screen so all my students could easily see it.
The Internet could be very useful in the classroom. I could find a program that can find graphs, statistics, etc. that students can access easily. Also, the students would have more fun using these programs.
Headphones are an excellent type of audio technology. It would help those students with hearing disabilities. If a student missed a test that had a listening section, he or she could do their test while I am in the classroom teaching other students a new subject.
Ipods are probably the newest and greatest form of audio technology. Ipods allow students to record lectures and take verbal notes while in class. Also, books on tape can be uploaded to the Ipod for those students who do not have time to sit and read a book.

Technology in the Classroom
I think technology has many advantages and can be very useful in the classroom, but I would prefer to be in a classroom with not as much technology. Students are too dependent on technology, like calculators. Nowadays, kids can't even add two simple numbers without a calculator. I don't even use a calculator for basic calculations, with the exception that if I am extremely tired and can't really concentrate on math at the time. When I become a teacher, I will allow technology like calculators, but other than that, technology is not really necessary in a classroom that teaches math.
